AS A PARENT...

Send mail to my child at camp?

Parents may send mail to their child at camp. Programs directors deliver the mail each day. We recommend you consider sending the mail even before your child leaves for camp, because being on an island the mail is not always quick in getting to us. Mail sent after Tuesday usually does not make it to the campers before they leave.

Send a package to my child?
See the answer to sending mail. Parents may also purchase care packages for their camper through the Camp Patmos Online Store

Visit my child at camp?
Parents may visit their child at camp, but we would ask those who visit try not to interrupt the daily program. The middle of the afternoon is the best time to visit as campers rotate through activities in one hour time blocks. A call ahead may be beneficial as your child may be on an island bike ride with their counselor making it difficult to track them down. Chapel services occur in morning at 9am and in the evening around 7 or 7:30, parents are welcome to join us during that time.

Call my child?
Parents may call their children, but it is not recommended. Phone calls all though comforting for the parent can cause homesick feelings in the camper that were not there before the phone call occurred.

Can I volunteer?
Volunteers are needed throughout the summer. We need a few volunteers to help in the dining hall each week and we can always use help doing grounds and maintenance. Volunteers may be teenagers who desire to do a week of service during the summer or parents and children who are looking for opportunities to be used in Christian ministry. Anyone interested in volunteering should contact Camp Patmos to discuss volunteering opportunities.

ABOUT CAMP PATMOS
What is the history of the camp?
Camp Patmos was established in 1952. The ministry on Kelleys Island has been instrumental in the lives of many individuals.

What is Camp Patmos all about?
To assist the church by impacting lives for Christ through a serving staff and relevant programs grounded in the Word of God

What we believe:
1. The Bible is the inspired Word of God, written by men inspired by the Holy Spirit, and without error.(2 Timothy 3:16-17)
2. God is perfect and eternally existing in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Jesus Christ was and is the Son of God, lived a sinless life, died for our sins, and rose to life again. The Holy Spirit indwells the believer and empowers them for Godly living and service. (1 John 5: 6-12, Romans 8:9)
3. Man was created in the image of God to have fellowship with Him. But because of man’s disobedience and sin, man has been separated from God. (Genesis 1:26, Romans 3:23)
4. Salvation occurs when an individual puts their faith in Jesus Christ who being the Son of God, lived a sinless life, willingly died on the cross for the sins of man, and arose again. (Ephesians 2:8-9. John 3:16)
5. That each Christian should daily submit themself to God’s will and plan, pursue God’s purposes, and serve Him, becoming more Christ like in word and action. (Romans 12:1-2, Philippians 2: 1-18)
